Youth Leadership Camp Bursary Fund Policy

A. Purpose and Policy

The Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf established the Youth Leadership Camp Bursary Fund in 2001 to financially support young Deaf Albertan (13-30 years of age) in attending summer camp.

The purpose is to enable young Deaf Albertans access to an environment that fosters development of leadership skills, social skills, education, learning enrichment and personal growth.

The recipients are expected to focus on aspects of human accomplishment, creativity, and self-discovery in a natural setting.

Applicants should be familiar with the ACSD Mandate. (See below Appendix A)

The ACSD Board of Directors reserves the right at its discretion to amend the policy and its supporting criteria at any time.

The Bursary Fund Selection Committee meets to evaluate applications and decide who will be awarded bursaries. Decisions made by the selection committee are final and not subject to appeal.

Those receiving bursaries will be given their funds after proof of acceptance to the camp
of their choice has been submitted.

The ACSD Treasurer will retain an office copy of each approved bursary application.

Bursaries may be given to more than two recipients at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

If no funds are awarded the money will not be carried forward to the following year.

**Bursaries do not include deposit fee.**
