ASL Studies Trainee Bursary Fund Application

Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf is accepting applications for this school year.

One very important aspect of our service program is funding projects that promote access and equity for Deaf people whose preferred language is American Sign Language (ASL). We continue to be very concerned about the critical shortage of qualified ASL instructors in Canada. To this end, we are offering bursaries to financially assist Canadian and permanent residents aspiring to become ASL instructors to help complete their education. The candidate shall be a member of the Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf. The bursary is $500.00 (Cdn funds) per successful applicant.

Applications must be returned to the ACSD before June 15 at the address below.

The application consists of six parts:
1. General information to be completed by the applicant.
2. Enrollment confirmation: to be completed by the program coordinator/director of the program the applicant attends.
3. Two letters of reference preferably from the Deaf community or organizations.
4. Video, 15 minutes in length explaining the student's personal goals for the future.
5. Resume showing work and volunteer experience, including field related involvement.
All candidates will be notified of the results by mail.
