What is it?
A 5-day event coordinated by the Alberta Cultural Society of the Deaf and the Western Canadian Centre for Studies in Deafness designed to immerse you in American Sign Language. Whether you know nothing about ASL or you have taken previous courses, this week is aimed at improving your fluency while in a fun, relaxed environment. There are no tests! The Immersion offers 7 levels of ASL classes from Beginners to Advanced, where students learn more of the language and culture of Deaf people. All your instructors are Deaf.
* Please note that this program is designed for adults. You must be 18 and over to register.
Where & When is it?
ASL Immersion will run the week of July 7 – 11, 2008. It will take place on Campus St. Jean, University of Alberta (8606 – 91 Street). Classes start Monday morning at 9:00 am. Classes will run from Monday to Thursday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to noon.

Where do I stay if I am coming from out of town?
Accommodations are available during the summer at reasonable rates in Lister Centre at the University of Alberta. Some people also like to RV and camp during this week. Edmonton Campgrounds.
What about meals for the week?
We provide lunch free of charge from Monday to Thursday. We also provide coffee, tea, water, and juice during breaks throughout the day. On Thursday evening will be BBQ and events Comedy Bob Whiteford The rest of the time, you are responsible for your own meals.
